This 100,000 s.f. warehouse with rail spur was built along the main entry drive from Cipole Road. Since the massive new structure is the first building seen when entering the site, minimizing the visual impact was a critical design consideration. This was accomplished by creating two sections of warehouse separated by a covered truck loading area, creating roof overhangs, providing clerestories for the warehouse and detailing the roof downspouts as an architectural feature. The office is located under the extension of the warehouse roof and the second story deck and the office below are located within the frame work of the roof and columns.
Creating human spaces amongst large trucks, fork lifts, etc was achieved by grouping all support activities into the office area.
